RESIDENTS of a Wokingham almshouse community enjoyed a summer lunch with plenty of scones, cream, and fresh fruit.
A special strawberry lunch took place at Wokingham United Charities‘ Westende Almshouses, and was pronounced a delicious success.
Wokingham United Charities charity manager Amy Garstang, said: “Our wonderful trustees and the amazing Lynda, manager of Westende, treated our residents to a delightful buffet lunch.


“The highlight was scones piled high with jam and cream, and paired with delicious fresh fruit.
“It was an afternoon filled with joy, laughter, and fantastic food – along with a cheeky glass of bucks fizz.”


Westende Almshouses, run and owned by Wokingham United Charities, provide affordable housing for older people in the borough unable to afford to buy or rent in Wokingham.
Located in Peach Street, its 27 flats are close to shops and a short walk from other facilities.
As well as annual occasions, residents can enjoy weekly get-togethers, including: coffee and cake mornings, games of bingo, and fish and chip Thursdays.
