SUNDAY will be a fun day thanks to plans for a market with a difference organised by Wokingham Town Team.
Market Place will welcome a host of unique and interesting traders for the event, which combines live entertainment with shopping.
Matthew George, who helps run the Town Team, was keen to stress the uniqueness of the day, to be held on August 2.
He said: “There are around 15 stalls booked in so far. We’ve gone for variety more than
anything.
“The whole point is there’s a mix of foods and crafts and there’s free entertainment during the day organised by Mountain Entertainment.”
Although the Town Team has organised Sunday markets before, this is the first time there is one planned for the summer holidays.
Mr George said: “The main reason for organising the event is because the town’s shops are still open. We want to support the town.
“The market is very different to the Saturday one, it’s something which is broader and hopefully will attract a wide audience.”
The stalls include hand made ice cream, wines from Uruguay, a sausage stall, handcrafted soap flowers, a chilli plant specialist and a toy stall.
Mr George said that he’s looking forward to visiting the Little Reds pizza stand.
“The pizza stall sounds really nice. I think it’ll do well,” he explained.
There is one thing that the Town Team can’t plan for – sunshine.
“Hopefully the weather will be kind,” Mr George said.
“Come on down – it’s a day put on by the Town Team for all to enjoy and there’s something for everyone.”
Two more markets are planned in September and for Christmas.
