A £5,000 GRANT from Wokingham United Charities’ Tackling Poverty Grant means that an autism charity can help its community by offering them a course to help them manage their money.
ASD Family Help’s Financial Impacts & Remedies Training course will help families to know where to turn for help, how to receive financial support, and to feel more confident about tackling difficult situations.
Cathy Roberts, charity manager at ASD Family Help, said: “We are so pleased we can run this project.
“It is such an empowering course, and a safe place where our families can come together.
“It will help them to identify where they may be struggling, to recognise they are not alone, and to learn how to tackle day to day circumstances and financial situations, which can make caring for a young person so much more difficult.”
One parent after completing the course, said: “This course was a lifeline, amazing and helped with dealing with everyday life, including my money situation.”
“The support is just lovely and meeting other parents that also share their struggles meant that I knew I wasn’t alone.”
