READING’S favourite six-sided venue is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. As part of the commemorations, it is opening its doors for a look down memory lane – and a look ahead.
As part of the Heritage Open Day week, The Hexagon is hosting tours on Saturday, September 16, complete with a chance to meet Nanny Bubbles, aka panto dame Paul Morse, from this year’s show, Sleeping Beauty.
The Hexabition event gives visitors a chance to explore some rarely seen items from its archives, and learn more about its past. There will be the chance to go backstage and find out how the shows, the snooker and the performances are all staged.
There will also be displays of posters, brochures and other memorabilia dating back to the 1970s, giving people the chance to go down memory lane and see some of the many famous faces that have performed at the venue.
And there will also be refreshments on offer.
Booking for the tours is essential, and children must be accompanied.
