A LOOK at nature conservation since the 19th century is coming up at a free talk in Earley next week.
On Tuesday, January 29, Earley St Peter’s Church Hall will be the venue for the discussion, which will be led by Dr C Prosser, the principal specialist of geodiversity and geoconservation at the chief scientist directorate of Natural England.
Starting at 7.30pm, the illustrated lecture will look at how Britain is regarded a world leader in geoconservation and what needs to be done to protect the country’s rocks.
It will explore the 19th Century origins of geoconservation, the planning by geologists during the Second World War, post-war decision making, increases in participation and activity in the 1990s and the recent rise of UNESCO Global Geoparks.
The church hall is in Church Road, Earley.
