A CHARITY that funds research into paediatric brain tumors will be remembering the youngster who inspires their work.
The Ollie Young Foundation is holding a tea party to bring together friends, family and Team Ollie supporters to enjoy Ollie’s favourite colour over coffee and home made bakes.
Ollie Young was a happy, energetic five-year-old from Wokingham who loved football, his bike, and the colour blue.
In November 2011 he was diagnosed with an incurable, and aggressive glioblastoma brain tumour and passed away in February 2012, just one day before his sixth birthday.
Ever since, his family, and a dedicated team of Ollie supporters has championed the little boy’s life, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for research into prevention and treatment of childhood brain cancer.
Every February, the charity remembers Ollie’s favourite colour with FeBLUEary activities.
In previous years people have dressed in blue, painted their faces blue and turned social media blue with photographs of their indigo challenges.
This year the charity is putting the kettle on, and inviting the borough to join them in a morning of children’s games, crafts, teas, coffees, and cakes, many of which are bound to be coloured blue.
The event will take place at Wokingham Cricket Club on Wednesday, FeBLUEary 18.
Doors are open from 9.30am until 11.30am.
All are welcome (including dogs on leads)
Donations for children’s activities on the day are gratefully received, with all money raised going to the Ollie Young Foundation.
