A teenager’s body has been discovered in a tent at Reading Festival. Police say the death is currently unexplained.
Shortly before 2am on Monday, August 28, not long after the final sets were performed at this year’s music festival, emergency services were called to a campsite where the 17-year-old boy was found.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Thames Valley Police said that the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the boy’s next of kin have been informed.
Reading Festival’s Police Commander, Superintendent Rory Freeman said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man.
“There is no cause for concern for surrounding festival-goers. I would like to thank nearby campers for their co-operation whilst we are in attendance.
“We will continue to provide support to the boy’s family at this difficult time.”
