A WOKINGHAM charity that supports people in hardship has received a brand new rotary iron, donated by local landscaping group, www.nurturelandscapes.co.uk.
As a part of its work, The Cowshed processes piles of laundry every day, so its volunteers are very grateful for the machine, which will save them countless hours of ironing.
The charity provides essential equipment, clothes, and bedding to people of all backgrounds in times of personal crisis.
Becky Russell, operations manager at The Cowshed, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Nurture Landscapes.
“This amazing piece of equipment is already making a huge difference – It’s fantastically helpful.”
Everything that is donated to The Cowshed is carefully washed and ironed before being made up into essential packs for those in need.
“Our 250 wonderful volunteers process vast amounts of bedding, and the rotary iron is perfect for ironing these large items,” she said.
“We put together 40 bedding sets a week, so you can imagine it’s going to save us lots of time.
“We’ve nicknamed it our Iron Maiden.
“Our volunteers were all very excited to be able to try it out, and now that we’ve had it for a little over a week, they’re really enjoying using it.
“Thanks to Nurture Landscapes we can now process even more bedding sets for people who need them.”
