BOOKING is now open for tickets to Crowthorne Symphony Orchestra’s (CSO) next concert.
The music group is offering an earlybird discount for people who buy now.
Their July programme features British music, including: Elgar’s Symphony No.1; Dame Ethel Smyth’s overture to her opera The Wreckers, based on tales of ships lured onto remote Cornish coasts to plunder their cargoes; and Frank Bridge’s 1908 Dance Rhapsody, with its contrasting dance modes.
The orchestra’s first two concerts at its new Wokingham venue have both enjoyed full house audiences and organisers say that this programme is bound to appeal.
Graphic designer and CSO viola player with CSO Hilly Beavan, said: “For our concert poster I used artist Antony Bridge’s atmospheric painting, Malvern Hills Pink Sky.

“I was looking for a suitable artistic image to compliment our Elgar Symphony, when I discovered Antony Bridge’s website, and was captivated by his unique and modern take on the iconic landscape.
“I wrote to him (with fingers very firmly crossed) for permission to use the painting, and he not only agreed, but told me he knew Elgar’s work well, as he’d been National Trust artist in residence at Croome for four to five years, and had had a solo show at the Elgar birthplace.
“He’s currently painting the Elgar route by bike.
“This coincidence, seemed very much like synchronicity.”
The event will take place at All Saints Church, Wokingham, Saturday, July 6, at 7.30pm.
Earlybird tickets cost £13, and are available until Sunday, May 19.
After that date, tickets will cost £15.
All 18s and under enter free of charge.
