Seven trialists were on display for Reading FC as the team made their first outing under new boss Ruben Selles in a pre-season match at Sutton United.
After a long process to have his work visa accepted, Selles was eventually confirmed as the new manager last week.
The Royals, who have been under financial strain for several years under owner Dai Yongge, are hoping to resolve issues, involving being served with a winding up petition for missed payments to HMRC.
Starting alongside new signing Harvey Knibbs who was signed on a free transfer from Cambridge United, former QPR players Luke Amos and Olamide Shodipo started the match against the League Two opposition,
26-year-old midfielder Amos was released by QPR in the summer after a four year spell with the club.
He started his career at Tottenham Hotspur and after loan spells with Southend United and Stevenage, he joined Rangers on a permanent deal in 2020.
Amos made a total of 60 appearances and netted six times for QPR.
Shodipo was also released by QPR in the summer after playing a total of 44 games for the club.
The 26-year-old winger has had loan spells with Port Vale, Colchester United, Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday and most recently at Lincoln City .
His best loan spell came with rivals Oxford where he played 39 times in the 2020/21 campaign and scored 10 league goals.
The Royals were beaten by Sutton after the hosts fired in two quickfire goals just before the hour mark.
After conceding two in quick succession, Selles changed the entire outfield team.
More trialists entered the match as ex Swansea midfielder Tivonge Rushesha, Chelsea U21s player Jayden Wareham and USA defender Tyler Bindon all featured.
The match ended in a 2-0 defeat for Reading.
Ahead of preparations for the League One campaign, Reading host Championship side Southampton next week at the Select Car Leasing Stadium before facing Swansea City.
