A ‘MINI-CONCERT’ will be held at an Earley church this Saturday.
Trinity Concert Band is holding a day of intensive rehearsals during the day ahead of the free concert in the evening.
World-renowned composed Nigel Hess will be leading the event and then conducting the band at 3.45pm.
The aim of the workshop day is to provide an opportunity for the band to work intensively on a selection of both new and existing pieces from their repertoire under the baton of a guest conductor, with an informal performance at the end of the day.
Last year the band welcomed former RAF Director of Music, Duncan Stubbs, to lead the proceedings.
The band said that they are hugely excited to be Mr Hess to Earley this Saturday.
He is an award-winning British composer and his scores for TV and film include Maigret, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Wycliffe, Dangerfield, Ladies in Lavender, among others.
His Concerto for Piano and Orchestra (also Classical Brit-nominated) was commissioned by The Prince of Wales in memory of his grandmother, the Queen Mother.
A spokesperson said: “We have been great fans of his works for a long time, most recently performing his Lochnagar Suite at the NCBF finals, and his Christmas Overture at our 2018 Christmas concert.
“It’s going to be be a full-on day of rehearsing, and we’d like to invite you to listen to the fruits of our labour.”
It takes place at the concert band’s base of Trinity Church in the Asda complex in Chalfont Close. Entry is free.
