A BOROUGH music group is preparing to perform extracts from two Glorias at their March concert.

The Twyford Singers’ annual Easter Performance will include music from Vivaldi and Rutter.

Celia Reinbolt from the choir said: “Our Christmas and Summer concerts take place in St Mary’s Church, Twyford, but since these Glorias benefit so much from a real organ accompaniment, our Easter performance will be in Wargrave, where there is a beautiful instrument with a wonderful sound.”

The Easter concert will be directed by Helen Styles, with organ accompaniment from Robert Jones.

“We’re very fortunate to have Robert play for us – he’s a brilliant musician, and he also plays for St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street,” said Ms Reinbolt.

“The two Glorias are a beautiful mix, one from Baroque composer, Vivaldi, and the other from living composer, Rutter.

“They both offer a mix of reflective and glorifying sounds, perfect for Palm Sunday, and Easter.”

The Twyford Singers rehearse at St Mary’s Church, Twyford during term times, on Tuesday evenings.

“We’re a very friendly choir,” said Ms Reinbolt.

“And we’d love more people to join us.

“There’s no need to audition, or even to read music, you just need to love singing.

“There’s lots of help with learning the pieces at rehearsals, and we get access to online practice files too.

“We especially need more gentlemen singers, tenors and basses, to join us.

The group’s Easter Concert will take place at St Mary’s Church, Wargrave, on Palm Sunday, March 24, at 7pm.

Tickets will be available from March 1, costing £12, or £5 for under 18s.
