Twyford resident Ellie Hemmings conquered the London Marathon in support of the National Deaf Children’s Society on Sunday 27 April.
She chose to fundraise for the National Deaf Children’s Society because she’s been affected by hearing loss from the age of five. Ellie’s passionate about the invaluable work of the charity in removing barriers for deaf children.
She’s raised over £1,500 to date for the charity, which supports the UK’s 50,000 deaf children and their families.
Ellie, who works for Dulux, lives in Twyford with her fiancé, Scott, and dog Nala.
She said: “I had the best day ever on Sunday. The support from the crowd, my incredible family and friends and other runners was just incredible. I am so pleased to have completed the marathon for the National Deaf Children’s Society. I lost 70% of the hearing in my left ear from a young age and now wear a hearing aid myself, so the charity is close to my heart.”
Melissa Jones, who supports fundraisers for the National Deaf Children’s Society, said:
“I want to say a huge thank you to Ellie for taking on this challenge for us. To conquer the London Marathon is a fantastic achievement. We’re so proud of what you’ve achieved.
“The National Deaf Children’s Society is dedicated to supporting the UK’s deaf children and their families. The efforts of selfless fundraisers such as Ellie will help us to keep on doing our vital work, now and into the future.”
