AT THE end of the month, scarecrows will appear all over Twyford.
They’re not for scaring crows: they’re entries into the much-loved Twyford Scarecrow Trail.
Organised by the Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) of The Colleton School and the Polehampton Infant and Junior Schools, the event encourages residents, businesses and community groups to get creative and craft their own scarecrows to put on display.
Returning for its third year, the theme is ‘T for Twyford’, so there are lots of possibilities – think scarecrows depicting Taylor Swift, tap dancing, or tarantulas.
Families will then be invited to explore the colourful cast of characters scattered throughout the village.
Trail-goers will also have opportunities to win prizes, offering plenty of incentive for families to get outside, explore Twyford, and enjoy some light-hearted half term fun.
The straw-filled visitors will be on display in Twyford from Monday, October 27 through to Saturday, November 1.
Budding trailblazers can collect a printed map any day during the week of the event from Grapevine Estate Agents (open 9am to 5pm) or Ola Coffee Co (9am to 3pm).
Maps cost £3 each, and all proceeds will be shared equally between The Colleton and Polehampton Schools to fund educational initiatives for their students.
Residents wishing to participate in the line-up of scarecrows are asked to register before Wednesday, October 8, to ensure they feature on the trail map.
Entrants living outside of Twyford village can also take part by being paired up with a local resident or business to host their creation.
Scarecrows will be on display in Twyford from 9am to 5pm every day of the trail.
