Wokingham Borough Council has started consulting on a Community Governance Review (CGR) to ensure the arrangements for towns and parishes are as effective and appropriate as possible.
The previous review was conducted in 2016, and it is advisable to do a review every ten to 15 years. A CGR is a legal process where we review how people are represented to ensure it is appropriate.
As well as town and parish councils, the review will also consider the electoral arrangements, such as the number of councillors and warding arrangements.
It is inviting inviting feedback on the current arrangements during a public consultation, which will be live until Friday, April 25.
It will publish the draft recommendation and ask for feedback on these in July, with the final recommendation set to go out for public consultation in August.
More information about how the process works, why we are conducting this review and what the time-scale will be can be found on the council’s engage website..
