Woodley town council is hosting a commemorative event to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan (VJ) Day on Friday, August 15.
A free, informal community drop-in afternoon will be held from 10am to 3pm in the Miles Suite at the Oakwood Centre.
The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made, and to remember the significance of peace following the war in the Pacific.
The town council is looking for photographs from Woodley on VJ Day in August 1945, newspaper clippings or memorabilia, and any memories and stories passed down about how Woodley marked the day.
