Mark Ashwell, Conservatives
Mark is a local businessman who has lived, worked and played in Wokingham for over forty years.
Since being elected for Evendons in 2014 he has taken responsibility for Planning and Regeneration across the borough.
Mark has not shied away from these challenging tasks and is happy to be measured by his performance
Mark is currently Executive Member for Children’s Services.
Annette Medhurst, Labour
Annette moved to Wokingham from Reading almost four years ago with her husband and two children. Previously working in Cancer Research for Oxford University, Annette volunteers at a local school and is Chair for a community nursery school.
“The cuts across our local services are hitting the most vulnerable people in our communities hard, the Tory council are even axing our school crossing patrollers. I am campaigning to keep the remaining ‘Lollipop ladies’ to help keep our children safe.”
Helen Power, Liberal Democrats
Helen Power has lived with her family in Evendons ward for 16 years and in Wokingham for 26 years, she knows the area very well.
Helen has a first-class degree in politics from the Open University and studied during a career break as her children grew up. Her career has included commercial roles and working as political assistant to the Wokingham Borough Council Lib Dem councillor group. Helen has an excellent understanding of what it takes to be an effective councillor working hard for local residents. She is currently working in the support team for a Wokingham Surgery.
Helen has been actively involved for a number of years in campaigning on issues which affect Evendon’s residents.
Issues such as: Campaigning for a safe pedestrian crossing point on Molly Millars Lane by Lidl, Joining in a mass lobby at Parliament and meeting Wokingham’s MP to call for fair funding for Wokingham’s schools, Campaigning against the Conservative’s town centre plans that have devastated green space and closed well used car parks, Campaigning for a Lib Dem town centre alternative that did not involve destroying Elms Field.
