Martyn Joseph among autumn acts of Wokingham Concerts
AN INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed singer-songwriter known as is preparing to perform in a Wokingham church this autumn.
Martyn Joseph, who sings tales of social justice ranging from the Welsh valleys to the hills of Palestine, is one of a number of artists who will be on hand to entertain music lovers at All Saints Church in Wiltshire Road.
Launching the series is a free cello concert on Friday, September 14. Starting at 7.30pm, it will see Jasper Severn perform two solo pieces. A collection will be taken for cancer charities.
On Friday, October 12, there will be a return from What The Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band who will perform some of the group’s greatest hits including Dark Side of the Moon and Another Brick In The Wall.
On Saturday, November 10 at 3pm, Trinity Concert Band will lead a special event to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. More details will be released closer to the time.
Mr Joseph will then appear at the church on Friday, November 30 from 7.30pm.
His set will celebrate the launch of his new album, and concert organisers say that guests cannot fail to be moved by the magic of his lyrical storytelling and musicianship.
One of the organisers, Peter Barrett, said: “Wokingham Concerts at All Saints is delighted that Martyn Joseph is coming for our autumn series. He is an internationally critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and a brilliant storyteller, focussing on issues of social justice.”
A Christmas concert from Wokingham Choral Society will bring 2018’s concerts to a close at 6.30pm on Saturday, December 15.
