This week none of the three new artists on our playlist are from the area – but don’t let that worry you, they all have connections.

We think it highlights why it’s worth checking out every band or artist on a bill, and not just the headliners, as you never know what you might discover.

The first band is one that played a support slot in Reading last month, the second played at a Reading-based radio station’s award show, and the third is one that is playing on a bill of three artists in Bracknell in a few weeks.

They are all waiting for you to discover, along with seven other great tracks in our free playlist.

If you go along to a gig to see your favourite band headlining, it’s always worth getting there early to check out the support bands.

They are often excellent especially at an event put on by promoters who ensure the quality of every act on the bill. That was certainly the case at the recent show by punk legends, Eater, put on by Club Velocity/New Mind.

Second on the bill were Jo Jo & The Teeth, a band with members from Canada and Isle of Wight who performed an exciting energetic set.

This is the title track from their 2022 album – www.jojoandtheteeth.com

Sonic Whip – Spinning Around

Radio Wigwam is a Reading-based, internationally renowned radio station, and they put on an awards show every year to recognise the best of the independent music scene.

We went along to the show at the famous The Bedford venue in Balham.

It was a brilliant night and it was great to see so many there from bands nominated that we have featured in this article.

As well as the awards there were live performances and one was from this new young band from Holland that showed amazing stage presence as they won over the crowd with just two songs.

Incredible. – www.sonicwhipband.com

Ghost of the Machine – Mercury Rising (Parts I and II)

There’s so much great music out there that it can be tough getting people along to some gigs so we love it when bands do something creative to entice an audience.

Bracknell-based Spriggan Mist is one of those bands.

They joined up with two other bands from around the country for a Power of Three tour whereby each band puts on a gig with each band in their local area. Each band headlines their local show. What a brilliant idea.

Here’s one of those bands who are from Yorkshire and will be at the Spriggan Mist Acoustic Couch show on February 17. It’s one of their melodic progressive rock epics – ghostofthemachineofficial.com/

Our Fate – Broken

An emotional rock ballad song from the Reading band’s Reflections of My Past album. They performed a great gig at Reading Face Bar – linktr.ee/ourfateuk

Tom Webber – This Time

Here’s a new single from an extremely talented artist who is live at Rising Sun Arts Centre this Saturday, February 3 – lnk.to/tomwebber#

Aden Pearce – Ghosts

Aden is an artist in Bristol, who originally came from Reading and this single also features Kate from Dakorra – www.facebook.com/adenpearcemusic

Aaron Cilia – Baguazhang

Aaron is a local musician, songwriter, producer and sound and this is his latest single – www.facebook.com/AaronCiliaArtist

Neil Wighton – There’ll Come a Time

Here’s the debut solo single from the guitarist with Bracknell-based band, Spriggan Mist – www.facebook.com/61555415787435

One Eyed Man – I Will Be Reminded

This local indie folk artist releases another excellent single – www.facebook.com/TheOneEyedManOfficial

Patchy Blonde – Don’t Ask, Don’t Get

A cool debut solo single from Wokingham-based Madeleine Bowis, who is also the vocalist from Adomania – linktr.ee/patchyblonde
