Wokingham borough council remains fully committed to the proposed sixth form building project at Emmbrook School.
Resident James Westhorpe raised the question at last month’s meeting of the full council.
He asked the executive councillor for children’s services, Cllr Prue Bray: “In September last year, Wokingham borough council confirmed it was confident that the Emmbrook School sixth form building project will be included in WBCs annual budget this month, after having been submitted to the overview and scrutiny committee for review late last year.
“Can you confirm if this is the case, and that plans for the project will continue without amendment or delay moving forward?”
In reply, Cllr Bray said: “Yes, the Emmbrook sixth form project is included within the medium term financial plan proposals.
“The project team is ready to begin work on this scheme as soon as funding approval is granted and the programme remains as previously advised.
“Of course, unforeseen circumstances can happen with any building project, and it is therefore impossible to provide an absolute guarantee in terms of timescales.
“However, as things stand, the council is fully committed to delivery of this project for opening in September 2027.”
