WOKINGHAM Borough Council suggests a few simple ways to help residents, their bins, and waste collection crews cope with the heat.
During particularly warm weather, the council’s waste and recycling crews begin their rounds earlier to avoid the hottest part of the day.
To make sure their bins are ready for collection by 5.30am, residents are asked to present them for collection the night before.
Food waste is collected weekly, and residents can make sure this goes into their food waste collection bin quickly.
Odours can be reduced, and pests deterred by wrapping food waste in sealed bags and keeping the bin lid locked closed, with the handle upright.
Lastly, people can check their waste collection day, and find out which waste goes where, online.
