WOKINGHAM boxer Felix Cash believes his “time has come” as he prepares for his first title fight this weekend.

The unbeaten 25-year-old will take on Dutchman Stephen Danyo at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday night for the vacant WBC International Silver Middleweight belt.

An injury-hit 2017 halted Cash’s progress, but he has since recovered to extend his professional record to 9-0 with a dominant points victory over Francis Tchoffo his latest success back in June this year.

And he insists he is more than ready for this opportunity.

“This has been a long time coming,” said Cash.

“I’m looking forward to getting in there and fighting for my first pro title.

“It’s taken a little longer than I expected, but it will be worth the wait when I get my first title under my belt.

“It’s been frustrating watching everyone else in the gym progress and fight for titles, especially when you know you’re good enough to be in the mix.

“But my time has come and it’s up to me to grab the opportunity with both hands.”

Danyo makes the trip to the capital having suffered his first defeat last time out.

The Manchester-based 29-year-old, nicknamed ‘The Chosen One’, lost out to Custio Clayton by unanimous decision in Canada, losing the WBO European Welterweight title in the process.

But he is still likely to present a tough challenge as he looks to boost his 14-1 record and pick up a second title of his career.

However, Cash has his eyes firmly on the belt himself, believing that British fighters have been dodging taking him on so far.

“I do feel like I’ve been avoided on the domestic scene,” he said.

“It’s been a bit of an awkward time but the bigger fights will start to come once I win my first title at the Copper Box Arena.

“It’s a good title and owning it will push my name right into the mix.”

Cash versus Danyo is part of an exciting evening of boxing, screened live on Sky Sports, with the likes of Ted Cheeseman and Luke Watkins among those in action.
