FOR Wokingham borough residents facing Christmas Day on their own, a charity is organising a slap-up festive meal.
The Link Visiting Scheme is, once again, organising a lunch event on December 25 – its 12th year of running the popular celebration.
It is open to anyone who might be facing a lonely day otherwise and includes activities as well as a meal.
It will be turkey with all the trimmings, with Christmas pudding for after.
The charity can help with transport for those who need a lift, and it can deliver meals to those who are housebound.
The Link’s Marjie Walker said: “We know The Link Visiting Scheme’s Christmas Lunch is seen as a huge support for those who find the festive season particularly challenging.
“We have been overwhelmed with people choosing to volunteer their time this year and reminds us that we have an amazing community here in Wokingham Borough who are keen to make sure no one feels forgotten.
“For the 12th year running, we hope to bring happiness and connection to those who need it most on Christmas Day.”
The event will run from noon to 2.30pm, on Monday, December 25, at a venue in Wokingham. Places need to be booked in advance.
