WOKINGHAM & EMMBROOK climbed further away from the drop zone after amassing a win over North Greenford United in the Combined Counties Premier North.
Going forward early, Sumas forced a corner kick and the ball was blocked, leaving the penalty area just right for Joao Jardim to run onto with just the right line of sight to fire the ball beyond keeper Sam House in the third minute.
Stung by the early goal by Jardim, Greenford attacked directly but Woodward cleared the ball away from the area.
Duval was able to take a decent shot but the ball almost scraped the top of the crossbar. Greenford gained a free kick but the ball hit the post.
Gethin-Barkway stopped an attack by McCorkell and Killeen. McCorkell positioned himself to take a shot but he hit the frame with the ball rebounding out.
In the 18th minute, Sam Mead scored the second goal for Sumas.
That was all very well but there was a long, long time to go to defend that fragile cushion.
Sam Green motivated a left wing attack but Duval was injured and Schofield was shown the yellow card. [
Woodward collected a long searching ball before a Greenford man could reach it and after that, Duval set out on a long run but his prod towards the net only reached House.
A double substitution took place for Greenford as McCorkell was replaced by Cain and Okwu made way for Danquah.
Woodward made another of his trademark superb saves and the ball ended up with Jobim who took it further upfield and Sumas took a corner kick.
Jake Woods was exhibiting his ball skills but Sumas took a free kick which amounted to nothing..
A couple of unsuccessful forays by Greenford found Woodward who claimed a fairly tame shot.
A free kick to Sumas ended up in the hands of House. With less than 10 minutes to go, one of the visitors left the field following a sin-bin decision which meant that he never returned to the field of play.

he hosts gained three very crucial points to Sumas who had to defend a slender lead for about 75 minutes.
