BEN FLETCHER clinched a bronze medal at the Antalya Grand Prix in Turkey.
Competing for Ireland, the Wokingham-based judoka defeated Austrian Aaron Fara in his first round match of the under-100kg contest before seeing off Danilo Pantic.
But he had to go through the repecharge to try and end the day with a medal following defeat to Azerbaijan’s Zelym Kotsoiev.
Back-to-back victories secured a bronze with wins over Saidzhalol Saidov and Hungarian Miklos Cirjenic to continue his impressive start to 2018.
“A hell of a day scrapping out here in Antalya,” said Fletcher.
“Really happy with my overall performance.
“There are always things that I can improve on but I’m happy with the result, especially off the back of a disappointing weekend in Tbilisi.
“As always, thank you to everyone who supports me.
“Now for a few days training in the sun before the final preparations for the European Championships in Tel Aviv.”
