Liberal Democrat MP for Wokingham, Clive Jones, has reflected on the importance of President Macron’s Parliamentary address.
The French President, Emmanuel Macron, addressed Parliament at the beginning his three-day state visit to the UK, touching on key topics including the Franco-British relationship, global conflicts, and the need for stronger cooperation between France and the UK.
Clive Jones, the Liberal Democrat MP for Wokingham, reflected on the significance of the address and what it means for Britain:
He said: “It was an honour to hear the President speak with such compassion during these trying times. His words about Ukraine and Gaza were deeply moving and a reminder of the importance of European and global cooperation.
“At the State banquet at Windsor Castle, there was a demonstration of a good personal relationship between the French President and King Charles.
“The Liberal Democrats have been pushing to rebuild our broken relationship with Europe, and President Macron’s speech marks a welcome step towards strengthening our ties with France.
“I am looking forward to seeing the further positive outcomes from the President’s visit.”
