Clive Jones, the Liberal Democrat MP for Wokingham, officially switched on Twyford’s Christmas lights at Bell Corner.
The switch-on of the lights sponsored by Goodall-Smith Wealth Management raised donations for the Building for the Future charity, which provides support, activities and therapy for children with disabilities and additional needs.
The Wokingham MP was joined by Amy Goodall-Smith and the CEO and Founder of Building for the Future, Jane Holmes.
The switch on of the ‘Tree of Christmas Wishes’ was powered by Parkers Properties and decorated by the team at Goodall-Smith Wealth Management with help from Treetop Landscapes and Twyford Together.
Twyford’s tree has been adorned with decorations from the children at The Colleton Primary, Charvil Piggott and Polehampton Junior Schools.
The switching on of the lights was followed by Twyford Together’s Christmas Fayre, featuring a variety of stalls run by local residents, craftspeople, charities and businesses.
Clive Jones showed his support for many of the stalls by buying local produce, including enjoying mulled wine made by Twyford Age Concern and a pasty made by the Rural Pie Company.
Following the events, Clive Jones, the Liberal Democrat MP for Wokingham, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to take part in the Christmas light switch-on for the benefit of Building for the Future, an incredible charity based here in Wokingham.
“The evening was only made possible by the many sponsors, including Goodall-Smith Wealth Management, and by the wonderful community spirit shown by everyone involved.
“Twyford Together once again put on a series of fantastic events, showcasing the very best of our local groups, schools and businesses.
“These events remind us how strong our local community is, and I was delighted to celebrate the start of the festive season alongside so many local residents.”
