AN ORGAN recital with an interstellar theme will be given at St Paul’s Church, Wokingham this month.
Its title is The Stars of the Night, and it takes its theme from the Church’s feast day of Epiphany, which took place on January 6.
Epiphany is the celebration of the revelation of Jesus to the world, traditionally marked by the visit of the magi (wise men), who, in the Biblical story of the Nativity, follow a star to find the Christ child.
The recital is being given in aid of the St Pauls organ maintenance fund and will be played by organist, Christoper Cipkin.
The programme will include the music of composers Bach, Chilcott, Groom teVelde, Strauss, and Zimmer.
The event will take place at St Pauls Church, on Saturday, January 24 from 5pm to 6.30pm.
It is free to attend, and people can just turn up.
There will be a retiring collection at the end and people can also donate online.
Refreshments will be served in the church after the performance.
