The Borough is preparing to celebrate Wokingham Pride which will be held at Elms Field in the town centre on Saturday, July 13.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride month around the world and the Wokingham Pride team are currently putting in preparations for the borough’s annual pride celebration.
The event is free for all to attend and is family friendly.
There will be photographs at Wokingham Town Hall at 11am, followed by a parade to Elms Field where there will be a picnic and bands from midday until 4pm.
The Pride team will be delivering leaflets and flags to businesses, schools and churches around Wokingham Borough, including Twyford, Earley, Winnersh and Woodley.
Members of the Pride team were in Wokingham last weekend and will be handing out flags in Woodley and Twyford later in the month.
They are welcoming volunteers and will be meeting outside the Bosco Lounge, Woodley on Saturday, June 8 at 10am and Costa Coffee, Twyford on Saturday, June 22 at 10am.
Pride chair Rachel Bishop-Firth said: “We’ve had huge support from the public for this event.
“This event couldn’t run without volunteers who have given their time and local organisations who have helped us financially or with discounted services, including the Equality Forum, Wokingham Borough Council, Wokingham Town Council, Wokingham Lions and Harlequin Marquee hire.
“We’re looking for people who can help us organise the event both for this year and next, including stewards to help on the day and a Treasurer for the group.”
