A BOROUGH repair cafe is excited to have received a grant from Wokingham Lions Club, which will help them fix broken electrical items.
Ian Gange of Wokingham Lions presented a cheque for £500 to Peter Wells, secretary of Wokingham Repair Café.
The grant is one of the many Golden Awards that Wokingham Lions Club is making to celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.
Committee member Anne King, said: “Thanks to The Lions Club we can now buy a portable electric appliance tester, and training so that two of our fixing volunteers can use it to PAT test electrical items safely.
“We’ll be able to improve our lighting too, so that our volunteer fixers can see better when they are working, and buy protective vinyl to help us preserve the work tables.
“The Lions also kindly donated two refurbished laptops from their ReTec project, which will massively speed up the time it takes us to log in the items for repair.”
The Wokingham Repair Café is supported by Maya’s Refillables, Wokingham in Bloom and spaceforall at All Saints Church.
It meets at All Saints Church, Norreys, on the second Saturday of every month, from 10am until 12.30pm.
The next event will be on Saturday 8th June.
