WOKINGHAM teenager Bobby Trundley has been included as part of a special event to launch the new Team BRIT Racing Academy for disabled drivers.
Trundley, 19, lives with autism and is a karting champion. He teamed up with Nicholas Hamilton, the first ever disabled driver to race in British Touring Car, for the launch.
This new academy will offer any disabled driver with a full UK license to have the chance to receive race coaching, mentoring and tuition, with Trundley part of the team as a rookie driver.
The team are aiming to become the first ever all-disabled side to race in the Le Mans 24 hour race with Trundley driving the BMW this year.
Trundley was diagnosed with autism aged four and has made a big impression in the karting world. As well as winning the 2011 Charlie Parker Memorial Trophy at Buckmore Park for most promising driver, he has gone on to become the reigning Dmax champion.
“Being part of Team BRIT is like a dream come true for me,” said Trundley.
“I’ve always loved racing, which helps me manage some of the challenges I face with my condition.
“Joining a team that is full of such inspirational people has been incredible.”
