A 60-year-old woman was pushed against a supermarket shelf and kicked in an attack before fellow shoppers rushed to her aid.
Now, police have released CCTV images showing a woman they would like to speak to in relation to the incident which took place in a Tesco store last month. The force are also appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The incident occurred at the Tesco Extra store in The Meadows, Sandhurst around 5.40pm on Thursday, March 23.
The woman was shopping and had to move her trolley to avoid a child who nearly ran into it. Thames Valley Police said that the victim then suggested that she would have been in trouble if she had bumped into the child.
A woman overheard the victim and asked if she was talking about her child. The victim moved away to avoid an argument. Shortly afterwards the victim saw the woman who then accused her of assaulting her child.
The woman grabbed the victim’s arms and pushed her backwards into a shelf then kicked her a few times before being pulled away by members of the public.
The victim sustained bruising to her arms, but not require medical treatment.
Thames Valley Police investigating officer PC Alex Jarratt, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident in which a woman was assaulted while shopping. At the time of the assault the store was busy and it would have been witnessed by other customers who pulled the woman away from the victim.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who recognises the woman shown in the CCTV image, as she may have important information about the incident.”
