A big outdoor show raising thousands of pounds for good causes is offering a new SportsQuest challenge in the run up to the Olympics.
The Quest embraces sport in the widest sense for visitors to have a go at over the weekend of June 29 and 30.
They can try bellringing on a portable ‘church tower’ with handbell ringing for little ones, hobby horse jumping and challenges set by Hurst’s cricket and football clubs, and also Hurst Karate.
There will be welly wanging, skittles, the ball shy and St Nicholas Primary PTA’s Olympic-themed bean bag toss. Visitors can challenge their balance with GymCats of Hurst, sponsors of the Quest.
Visitors who collect at least four stamps on their scorecard earn a prize.
Hurst Show favourites including classic vehicles, tractors, animal petting, a bar and barbecue, live music, terrier racing, and many craft and other stalls are all planned. The popular fun dog show is sponsored by Mulberry House Vets. A fire engine will be there as long as it is not called out.
Arena events include St Nicholas Primary pupils’ maypole dancing and country dancing, Hurst Morris People who offer the chance to have a go, Hurst Scouts and Elements Dance’s performance.
The organisers say the show is a special, non-commercial event, with profits going to local good causes including Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, Just Around the Corner, Red Diamonds Sports Club for disabled people, St Nicholas Primary School, the Pre-School and St Nicholas Church.
