WORKING with a real dragon isn’t always on the top of people’s must-do lists, but for one Wokingham business, it’s been a real boost.
Last week, Rachael Rogers, owner of McKenzie Legal Limited, was selected to be one of six weekly winners to get a boost on social media from Dragon’s Den star and retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.
Every week, the owner of stationers Ryman selects six people to mention on Twitter to his 500,000 followers with the hashtag #SBS – standing for Small Business Sunday.
The net result, Ms Rogers said, is that her Shute End-based firm has seen their client base expand due to the increased interest.
“We are delighted to have won Small Business Sunday,” she said. “It’s fantastic that Theo has recognised McKenzie Legal as a leading boutique legal consultancy firm, offering an alternative to expensive solicitors. We specialise in legal advice for business and contractual matters.
“We also cover debt recovery issues, landlord/tenant disputes and HR Legalities.
“It’s fantastic news as we only expanded to Berkshire last year. Our company was originally based in Kent but we opened an office in Wokingham in 2018 due to growing demand from Berkshire businesses.”
And Mr Paphitis, who recently returned to the BBC Two programme as a special guest, was delighted to help.
The businessman, whose companies include Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.
