AS THE New Year approaches, many people will begin thinking about new goals — including finding a new job.
The Wokingham Job Support Centre (WJSC) offers free, personalised guidance to anyone looking for work or considering self-employment.
The organisation says now is the best time to get started, before the start of the holidays, and it advises people to contact them now, rather than later.
WJSC, based in Wokingham, is supported entirely by volunteers.
The scheme offers one-to-one advice, which is tailored to people’s individual needs.
“Whether you’re returning to work, changing careers, or exploring self-employment, our advisors — local professionals from a wide range of industries — can help you plan your next steps with confidence,” said a representative of the group.
“Losing a job, or feeling stuck, can be overwhelming.
“It’s not always easy to know where to turn, but we combine practical guidance with genuine empathy.
“Our team has real-world experience in recruitment and employment.”
WJSC can help people to write or improve their CV, apply for jobs online, prepare for interviews, and can also help them to build their confidence and stay motivated.
Support continues for as long as needed — and is all completely free.
Face-to-face appointments are at the group’s main office at the Cornerstone on Norreys Avenue.
But the organisation has also recently expanded its services to the Earley Crescent Resource Centre.
Online consultations are available too, making it easy to access help from wherever people are.
People who have accessed support from WJSC have said: “The session was very helpful.
“I’m looking forward to working on my CV and searching for jobs.”
“My CV is now great, and I’ve left feeling very optimistic.”
“They offered me an out-of-hours appointment — so helpful and professional.”
“Our discussion was inspirational and gave me lots of direction.”
Anyone interested is advised to contact WJSC now, ready to hit January with a strong CV and a clear plan.
