The story of Christmas was retold – twice – on Christmas Eve.
For many Wokingham families Christmas doesn’t really start until after they have attended a Christmas Eve crib service at All Saints Church .
Due to demand, the church now holds two Crib services on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.
After the blessing of the crib, the Christmas story is retold, and everyone can experience the wonder of the Christ Child being born in a stable amongst the animals.
In this retelling there are no live animals, but children from the congregation, wearing donkey ears, joined Mary and Joseph as they make their way to Bethlehem.
There might not be any live animals, but the services do feature live babies, and Amelia and Desire, who were playing the part of Jesus, behaved impeccably, and as the carol says “’little Lord Jesus no crying he made”, they helped to create a beautiful and memorable scene.
