Are you aged between 15 and 16 and looking for a volunteering opportunity to bolster your CV?
The Public Protection Partnership (PPP) is recruiting responsible young people to take part in its underage sales test purchasing programme, designed to help protect children and young people from illegal access to age restricted products.
The programme forms a vital part of PPP’s work to ensure businesses comply with the law when selling items such as alcohol, tobacco, vapes, knives, fireworks, solvents, and other age restricted goods. In addition to enhancing your CV this work can also be used to illustrate ‘community service’ for those doing Duke of Edinburgh awards and similar schemes. It can also be used as evidence of key skills for job applications and college and university entrance forms and we can provide references for our volunteers.
Test purchasing involves a young volunteer attempting to buy an age restricted product under the supervision of trained PPP officers. These operations help identify businesses that are not meeting their legal obligations and support wider efforts to keep communities safe. To undertake this work, we need to recruit volunteers to assist us.
Underage sales operations will take place out of school hours throughout the year and be conducted under Officer supervision. Full training will be given, and if at any time the volunteer does not wish to proceed, the operation will be cancelled. Volunteers are fully safeguarded throughout the process.
All test purchases are carefully planned and risk assessed. Due to the nature of this work officers will discuss fully with the volunteers and their parents/guardians, the nature and implications of the work to be carried out.
