A DINNER dance is to take place in Wokingham early next month to help raise funds for a Twyford-based charity.
Understanding Dementia is organising the event at Sand Martins Golf Club, on Saturday, March 2.
Entertainment will come from singer Marc Hockley, and the venue will host a hot buffet.
Additional funds will be raised by an auction and a raffle.
Money raised will help the charity’s support for family and friends of people with dementia, whether they are supporting someone within their home or from a distance, and regardless of whether they yet have a dementia diagnosis.
The event is organised by friends Tracy Taplin and Nina Warden.
Ms Taplin said: “I wanted to raise money for Understanding Dementia, so that other family carers like me, can benefit from their free training as much as we have. The course gave us such insight into how best to support and look after my mum and it made such a difference…
“Our home is a happier home for me attending the course.”
Understanding Dementia said they are grateful for the fundraising effort.
Its fundraising, marketing and training officer, Lucy White, said: “Events such as these help to raise vital funds so we can reach every family dementia carer that we possibly can with our free training and support.
“We are holding our own fundraising event, a barn dance, on May 18, at Loddon Hall Twyford – people should like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/understandingdm to find out when tickets go on sale”.
