A house in Earley with an estimated value of more than £680,000 is set to be converted into a children’s home.
The owner of the home in Elm Road has been granted permission to convert it into a home for up to three looked-after children. They will be looked after by carers working on a rota basis.
The project has been approved by Wokingham Borough Council’s planning officers.
A report states: “The council’s highways officer was consulted on this application, and they are satisfied that the level of use would be comparable to a standard dwelling, and therefore the proposal is not considered to have a significant impact upon the highway network.
“The existing frontage can accommodate up to three parking spaces, and this is considered acceptable for day-to-day staff parking and additional parking to allow for shift changeovers and any visitor parking.”
It was also noted that the house is close to public transport links, and bikes could be stored in the garage.
The conversion project was approved on May 8.
