Trampoline park operator Oxygen Activeplay has teamed up with children’s charity Barnardo’s to offer discounted play sessions across the UK on Blue Monday, with all proceeds going to the charity.
On Monday 19 January, often referred to as the “saddest day of the year”, Oxygen Activeplay is offering £3 sessions at its 13 parks nationwide, alongside its sister brands Boost and RedKangaroo. The initiative is expected to create around 6,000 sessions, with 100% of ticket proceeds donated to Barnardo’s.
The offer will run throughout the day and includes a range of sessions designed for different age groups and needs, including toddler sessions and “Peaceful Play” slots aimed at children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Families attending will have access to a variety of activities, including interconnected trampolines, inflatables, soft play areas, giant airbags and interactive games. Staff will also be on hand to organise games and activities during sessions.
Oxygen Activeplay parks taking part are located in Acton, Croydon, Derby, Manchester MediaCity, London’s The O2, Rayleigh, Reading, Romford, Wilmslow and York. Boost Trampoline Park in Leicester and RedKangaroo Trampoline Parks in Nottingham and Coventry will also participate.
Barnardo’s has supported children, young people and families in the UK for more than 150 years. Last year, the charity said it helped more than 350,000 children, parents and carers through over 650 services and partnerships nationwide.
Stephen Wilson, chief executive of Oxygen Activeplay, said the company wanted to build on the success of a similar initiative last year.
“We absolutely loved opening the doors to all of our parks for free last Blue Monday and really enjoyed meeting so many families from our local communities,” he said. “This year, we wanted to go one step further and help support more families in need across the UK.
“Barnardo’s is a fantastic charity and we’re proud to be donating 100% of the proceeds from our Blue Monday sessions.”
Lynn Perry, chief executive of Barnardo’s, said the charity was grateful for the support.
“Every donation will help us continue supporting children, young people and families across the UK,” she said.
Participants are required to wear specialist trampoline socks, which can be reused from previous visits or purchased on the day at a reduced cost.
