WOKINGHAM Choral Society has recently returned from a successful tour to Norwich, and is keen to hear from singers wishing to join the music group.
Choir member Chris Dunning reports on the tour.
He said: “The small chamber choir stopped off at the beautiful market town of Saffron Walden, Essex where we sang in the historic building of St Marys.
“The singers gave a free concert to the packed 12th Century church and performed much of our summer programme with works by Morley, Dyson and Elgar, together with Sir John Rutter’s Sprig of Thyme.
“The following day we were in the centre of Norwich singing the same programme at the magnificent 14th Century church of St Peter Mancroft, where an even larger audience showed their appreciation with a strong ovation.
“The final day of the tour led the choir to Wymondham Abbey where we had been invited to be the guest choir to sing for the traditional Eucharist Service.
“We’ve already begun to plan next year’s tour which is provisionally scheduled for next August, to Bath and Wells, in Somerset.”
