A GROUP of women fundraisers held a soup lunch in one of their homes to raise money for WaterAid.
Members of Inner Wheel Club of Maiden Erlegh were able to enjoy time together while sampling different home-made soups.
“Around 20 of us enjoyed gathering in the home of one of our members, Ann Way,” said Dorothy Simpson of the club.
“There were four different soups on offer, made by our members, followed by cheese and biscuits.
“I particularly enjoyed the smoked haddock chowder – it was delicious, a meal in a bowl.”
The club held the event to raise money for their International charity.
“We raised almost £200 for WaterAid, which helps to provide clean water in deprived countries.
“As a group we felt that this particular charity is very relevant to the lives of women around the world, who need clean water.
“And I’ve done some travelling myself, and seen some of the unimaginable conditions people have to face without it.”
The Inner Wheel group meets at Sonning Golf Club on the third Thursday of every month at for a at 7.15 for 7.45 pm.
Members can enjoy a chat and a drink, followed by a two-course meal (current cost £27), and then usually a talk from a visiting speaker.
