WOKINGHAM audiences can soon enjoy a traditional performance straight from the ‘good old days’.
Victory Theatre Project’s old time music hall show, A Little Of What You Fancy, will contain all the elements of a ‘proper old-fashoned knees-up full of song, laughter and typically British entertainment’.
Victory co-partners Cathy Valentine and Mandy Dodd have engaged the talents of London’s New Players Theatre Company; professional performers who will entertain with their ‘unique blend of eccentric characters and broad comedy’.
The company has been delighting audiences with Victorian Music Hall performances since 1936, with numerous successful shows at venues such as The Charing Cross Theatre in London and 245 television episodes at the City Varieties in Leeds of The Good Old Days, a show televised by the BBC.
Chairman Mr Kevin Gauntlett and Musical Maestro Mr Tom Carradine will present their cast of marvellous entertainers, including: Gentleman Juggler Mr Mat Ricardo, Miss Michelle Grant, Miss Jane Horn, Mr Adam Borzone and Mr Andy Moore.
Cathy Valentine said: “We very much enjoyed helping CLASP performers present their variety show last year, and have wanted to bring more of this style of performance to Wokingham ever since.
“We are now able to bring this wonderful professional old-time music hall show to Wokingham audiences.
“There’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“People sometimes think music hall is only for older people, but everyone who comes to this show will have an absolute blast.”
Wokingham-based Victory Theatre Project is a newly established not-for-profit company dedicated to promoting theatre for everyone.
Two performances will take place at The Whitty Theatre, Luckley House School, on Saturday, October 4, at 3pm and again at 7.30pm.
Doors open 30 minutes beforehand, with a bar, refreshments and a raffle.
Tickets cost £18, or £15 for concessions.
All proceeds from the show will go to fund local good causes.
The event is sponsored by Wokingham Town Council, Circus Scene, and Wokingham In Need.
