PEOPLE passing St Paul’s Church, Wokingham will probably have noticed a sea of twinkling candles on Sunday evening.
Placed on all the graves in the churchyard, the little lights serve to remember lost loved ones buried in the parish grounds.
The annual event marks All Souls Day, a day of prayer and remembrance, which is observed by Christians on November 2.

That evening an All Souls Evening Mass was held at St Paul’s Church, with the names of loved ones read aloud during the service.
The candles lit in the churchyard are designed to show that it is a place of rest and hope rather than just one of sadness.
