A WOODLEY, secondary school was visited by organisations keen to talk with pupils about possible career paths.
Students from Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 at Waingels participated in a careers fair held in the school’s sports hall.
Student journalist, year 9 student, Sophia Rohart-Brown reported to Wokingham Today.
She said: “The day featured more than 30 organisations, including the NHS, AWE, and representatives from Waingels, as well as various colleges and universities.
“Students dedicated an hour of their school day to explore these stalls and learn more about potential future career paths.
“I found it particularly enjoyable to speak with the representatives and learn about their experiences in further education.
“One stall that caught my attention was Valtech.
“This innovative company focuses on helping people and businesses succeed in an increasingly connected and rapidly changing world.
“The representative from Valtech discussed the significant impact of technology on our evolving society.
“During this inspiring hour, we were required to visit at least one university stall, one sixth Form stall, and one company stall.
“Overall I really enjoyed my time at the careers fair where I gained a lot of very valuable insights to companies I didn’t know anything about.
“The careers fair is a great event which will help to support students with their future pathways.
“During the day some Year 5 and 6 students from local schools also joined us to participate in various outreach careers activities with Sixth Form tutor Mrs Tickner.
“They got to learn and practice skills that are helpful for a range of different jobs and also attended the careers fair.
“One Year 5 teacher said: ‘The children really enjoyed the experience and the opportunity’.
