Step by Step has revealed its supported lodgings service is expanding to Wokingham.
The organisation, which helps to provide young people with the skills and confidence to work towards a brighter future, said it has been awarded a contract to provide supported lodgings in what is a brand new area of operation for the charity.
The new contract will see it providing accommodation and support for 12 young people at any one time, including two crucial emergency beds for those with an immediate need.
Step by Step’s supported lodgings service finds safe and supportive homes for young people who might otherwise be homeless.
It was awarded the £438,000 contract earlier this month, and continues the trend of year-on-year growth for a service that supports hundreds of young people each year.
Debbie Moreton, CEO of Step by Step, said: “This accomplishment marks a significant milestone of growth for our organisation.
“Securing the Wokingham tender means that we will have the opportunity to expand our services and make a positive impact on the lives of even more young people.
“It is a testament to the quality of our programs and the commitment we have to providing excellent support and care.”
Supported Lodgings relies on a network of hosts, both individuals and families, who open their home to young people in need.
The charity is now looking for new hosts in the Wokingham area.
