FAMILIES that enjoyed chocolates, sweets, biscuits, and crackers at Christmas may be wondering what to do with the plastic tins or tubs they arrived in.
Three Wokingham pubs are collecting them for recycling, to be turned into new products, and to generate money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The participating public houses are all run by Greene King, which says it hopes to recycle thousands of the containers.
Tens of millions of tubs are sold in the UK every year, and not all councils can accept them for recycling, so they end up incinerated or in landfill.
The Greene King brewery is collecting tubs nationally to support Macmillan, and says that people can drop their unwanted plastic sweet tins off at Greene King pubs throughout January and beyond.
Clean and empty tubs can be delivered to The Two Poplars on Finchampstead Road, The Three Frogs on London Road, and The Foundry Bell, also on London Road.
They will be accepted until Sunday, February 11.
