CALLING all Wokingham heroes, nominations are now open for the 2020 Civic Awards.
Created to recognise the individuals who have gone above and beyond within their community to make a difference to the lives of others or indeed Wokingham town.
Wokingham Town Council is looking for people who are worthy of being singled out and publicly recognised for their generous use of time, ideas, energy and resources for the betterment of others.
Cllr David Lee, Chairman of Civic Committee said: “Wokingham Town Council takes great pride in recognising those individuals who have significantly supported our Wokingham community.
“I encourage you all to think of people you know who have contributed to our town and nominate them to be considered for this important award.”
Town Mayor, Cllr Lynn Forbes said: “I’m honoured that I will be hosting the Civic Awards ceremony for 2020.
“During my mayoral year, I have met with many great volunteers, they deserve our acknowledgement and I would like to present them with an award for their endeavours in supporting Wokingham.
“I have met so many people in Wokingham who undertake such valuable voluntary work for the good of Wokingham and it’s residents.
“We now ask for your help, please nominate our wonderful volunteers so that Wokingham Town Council can thank them on your behalf.
“Thank you. ”

The on-line nomination form can be found in the Civic Award section. The deadline is Thursday, November 22 and the judging panel includes Wokingham Paper editor Phil Creighton.
An official ceremony will take place on Friday, January 24, 2020 when the Mayor will present awards to successful nominees.
