A newly opened supermarket has been forced to close just months after opening its doors.
Lidl in Beke Avenue, Shinfield, opened on December 5, but a sign has now appeared stating the store has been forced to close temporarily.
Speculation on social media suggests there are issues with building safety, and that the store may be closed for up to three months.
Wokingham Borough Council granted permission for the new store in late 2022.
Lidl has other stores locally in Whitley Wood, Woodley and Wokingham.
A spokesperson for Lidl told Wokingham Today: “Whilst we were pleased to have the Shinfield store opened and ready for customers ahead of the busy festive period, it has now been closed temporarily as we make additional updates to the flooring.
“The changes being undertaken are standard internal works and there are no safety concerns.
“We look forward to reopening our doors to customers in due course.”
