A NEW take on the popular Tales From The Riverbank series will be performed in Wokingham town centre later this month.
Hooray! For Mr Toad is a play specially created for Wokingham Town Council by Wokingham-based playwright Bart Lee and featuring music by Andrew Houldworth.
It tells the story of Mr Toad and his friends Ratty, Mole and Badger as they undertake a new, epic quest.
They have to find the source of the river and defeat the wicked fox, Crimson Scar and his cronies, the Stoats and Weasels, as they plan to destroy the riverbank and steal all the treasure.
Organisers say that the performance will be packed with comedy, music, dancing and audience participation – there will also be face painting for younger audience members.
The play will be performed twice – at 11am and 3pm on Sunday, May 26.
Audience members are invited to bring chairs or a rug to sit on and bring a picnic to enjoy.
Entry is free, but donations towards the cost of staging the performance will be welcomed.
